Experiencing God’s exceeding abundance…
Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think,
according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church
and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen ~Ephesians 3:20-21
Both Deb and I have big, yellow streaks down both our backs! When we started down this road in January we looked at who we were and our resources and wondered how we could possibly leave the safe canal of Chapin Presbyterian Church (this summer) and go into the uncharted waters: Presbyterian Evangelistic Association (PEF) as an itinerant evangelist to the Midlands of South Carolina. How could we raise a team who would pray for us and financially support us to call the Church in the Midlands to revival prayer and evangelism through revival preaching and training? We are amazed at God’s exceeding abundance that He has poured out on us over these past three months! To Him be the glory!
Exceeding Abundance in Prayer: Our goal was 200 prayer warriors who would commit to praying for us at least once a week at the beginning of our team-raising journey we began in February. We now have 267 people who are committed prayer warriors. One friend told me, “Tim, I will not pray for you once a week. I pray for you every day. I know you NEED it!” We know Satan will throw everything he can to frustrate revival prayer in the Church in the Midlands. We praise God for so many of you praying for us!
If you do not receive these weekly email updates and would like to commit to pray for us once a week, please contact us.
Exceeding Abundance in Preaching: I kept saying to myself, “A Presbyterian pastor preaching at a Pentecostal Holiness revival service will never work.” It happened the Monday before Easter! I preached at Life Springs Worship Center (LSWC) south of Lexington, and this is what Pastor Derrick wrote me in response to my preaching that night, “I had some LSWC leadership think I was crazy when I told them that a Presbyterian pastor from Chapin would be ministering on Monday night . . . Well, now they are asking when you will be coming back to minister again.” Pastor Derrick told me that he guessed maybe Presbyterian pastors can have Pentecostal blood. That is God’s exceeding abundance all to His glory!
Exceeding Abundance in Team-Raising: We are overwhelmed at God’s peoples’ response to the 80 presentations of God’s calling and vision for revival in the Midlands we have made over 9 weeks. We are currently at 45% of our support need, and we praise God for His exceeding abundance.
Exceeding Abundance in Uganda: PEF asked me to go to Uganda May 2 through May 27. There has been an ongoing revival in that central African nation for the past 20 years. The Lord has provided for every penny needed. While there, the 15 team members will help lead 3-4 schools of evangelism in 3 different cities, boldly proclaim the Gospel in various contexts, and preach at various churches. We look to God for His exceeding abundance for me while I am in Uganda and for Deb while she remains here.
Specific Prayer Requests:
- For spiritual protection and power for Tim while in Uganda during the month of May.
- That we would delight ourselves in the Lord as Tim concludes over 9 years of ministry at Chapin Presbyterian and continues team-raising through the summer.
- Romans 5:5 and Ephesians 1:17-19 for Joshua/Kandice, their two little ones, Isaiah and Naava, and for our younger son Daniel.

February 2013
We are overwhelmed with people’s responses to God’s call on our lives! H.L. and Janie said, “You are an answer to our prayers for the Midlands.” Julie told us, “Our prayer group has been praying for someone like you for 10 years.” Like Aaron and Hur lifting up the arms of Moses in Exodus 17, the Greater Columbia Call to Prayer group held my arms up while praying for me to be a catalyst for setting the Midlands ablaze with revival. Marcia prayed for us, “Tim and Deb have stepped out in obedience to Your call, Father, also not sure where You are leading, but longing to see Heaven come to earth, willing to go and to do that which You have purposed to make that happen.”
So I am in transition after 20 years of pastoral ministry to become a full time evangelist with Presbyterian Evangelistic Fellowship (PEF). After praying for 25 years for revival in the Midlands, the Lord has challenged me to become a part of the answer to my own prayers. Watch what you pray for! The Lord has called me to stoke the fires of revival in the Midlands through revival praying, revival preaching, and evangelism training. I will remain as assistant pastor at Chapin Presbyterian Church through June. Leaving this congregation is heart-breaking, but the Lord has clearly confirmed this call in our lives.
What does all this mean? Chapin will remain our home. Deb is thrilled with that. Over the next 6 months we will contact many of you and many churches to become ministry partners through praying for us and by investing financially. We are so excited about all that God is doing, and, as we take this step of faith, we are looking to the Lord to supply all our needs and to set His ONE Church Ablaze in the Midlands.
Here is how you can pray for us:
- The Lord would keep our own hearts revived with a divine desperation over the status quo of His Bride and for His glory (Eph 1:17-17-19).
- The Lord would give us 200 people who daily or weekly pray for us and for the ONE Church Ablaze ministry.
- The Lord would revive the Church in the Midlands.
Praying for you to lead the revival. Blessed to have been a partner with you in Nicaragua and Egypt. God has great plans for you. Thanks for taking the leap out of the boat!
In Christ,
Doug Roberts
